This has been a long time coming. We are packing our bags and becoming DIGITAL NOMADS. Yes, I said DIGITAL NOMADS. 
Well, we are at the right place in our lives to leave everything and travel. Like everyone would say, “we are young and don’t have kids yet”. Like if that saying wasn’t true we would not be making this change anymore. All that statement does for us is stating what we know already: “Having kids doesn’t mean the end of your life”. Making such a drastic change doesn’t have to be limited to what people expect the reason to be. It’s different for everyone. For us its purely because we both love to travel and we do not want to live our lives working for someone else. In jobs that drain us and never having time for anything. When we have kids we want to be able to pick them up from school or even let them experience life through their own eyes instead of a textbook. Go support them at every sports game and so much more. It took us a year and a half to commit to this lifestyle and we have never been more excited in our lives. Up until now we have done the best in our jobs and grew as much as we possibly could. Both hubby and I started at the bottom 5 years ago. He started as a data capturer and me as a sales assistant. We both knew we were capable of more, but having just moved to a different town we needed jobs. Now he is a web and software developer amongst other things and myself, I am a Retail Systems Admin Manager. We are still working for the same companies we started with 5 years ago. 
We took this past 5 years to grow. If you told me 5 years ago I would be where I am I wouldn’t have believed you. I have no regrets about my job or the experience I have gained. Nor the TEFL course I didn’t finish 5 years ago. My life has played out how it was supposed to. I am so grateful for all the opportunities that were given to me. Without a lot of people I am leaving at home I wouldn’t be where I am. I thank all who invested in me and supported me no matter what choices I made. Enough about that!
We are a few weeks away from leaving our home and 2 months away from leaving our home country. All this is still so unreal. Someone pinch me! I resigned my job and will finish working on the 15 September 2017, but we are moving out of our apartment the end of August. We will be living out of suitcases for 5 weeks before we leave the country. We will be staying with my in-laws for 2 weeks till I finish at work. Thereafter we will be staying with my family in Worcester for 2 weeks. Then going back to Cape Town for our last week before we leave. Thereafter South East Asia here we come. 
We will be starting in Thailand and slowly move through South East Asia. I will be blogging about each destination as we go along. I will post tons of pictures on my social media (don’t forget to follow me). Read my next post written a few weeks before I finish my location based job!
